Our Purpose
We are committed to helping people become genuine disciples of Jesus Christ. The Bible teaches that a disciples is someone who sincerely follows Jesus and lives according to His teachings. Making disciples for Jesus is the reason MHCC exists. Our Affiliation Mt Hawley Community Church is a non-denominational Protestant congregation with roots in the holiness tradition. We are part of a group of independent congregations that associate together in a movement known as the Church of God with general offices in Anderson, Indiana. |
What We Believe
About God: We believe that there is one God, eternally and triunely existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. About Jesus Christ: We believe in Jesus Christ as the only Son of God, including His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension to Heaven and His personal return. Jesus Christ was completely human when he was on earth and at the same time completely God. He is the reason for bringing people back into a right relationship with their Creator. He defeated the power of Sin and death in His resurrection so we can live a more abundant life now and enjoy eternal life with Him. About the Holy Spirit: We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit who indwells each Christian and enables us to live a godly life. He guides believers in understanding the Bible and provides supernatural help in times of need. He comforts us, gives us spiritual gifts, and helps us to live as effective & influential followers of Jesus Christ. About the Bible: The Bible is God's living & revealed Word to all people. Human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit wrote it. Because God inspired it, the Bible is truthful, trustworthy, and is completely relevant to our daily lives. About the Church: Our church is a local community of persons who believe in Jesus Christ and the Bible. Jesus' Church is to be committed to making disciples, just as He instructed. The Church works together in love and unity, intent on the ultimate purpose of glorifying God in the world. About Humanity: People are made in the spiritual image of God to be like Him in character. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called sin and need to be reconciled to God through Jesus Christ. About Salvation: We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God's offer of forgiveness can anyone be reconciled to God. Salvation is God's free gift that we choose to accept. |
